African Experience of Life in Community   Kufunda Village, Zimbabwe, 2005-03-01 12:00:00 - 2005-03-12 12:00:00

It is a celebration of community, and the spirit of Africa. It takes place against a backdrop of a country in decline. Despite – or perhaps in light of this – we will seek to share that which still gives us hope during these difficult times for Zimbabwe at Kufunda, and beyond. We are calling it a learning journey because we believe that there is much to learn from the experience of being together in community, and in nature, and being in appreciation of what is working and what is possible. We will spend time together at Kufunda living the life of the village, and getting more of a sense of Zimbabwe today. After this initial settling in, we will go on a trip to a rural community, and then out into the wilderness of the African bush, and Victoria Falls.

Sometimes we find the courage to walk-out because the dysfunction is so great, or because we’re passionate about being the change we want to see in the world. This strength isn’t always there, however; sometimes the desire to walk out exists, but not the confidence and courage to make it happen. A little help is needed, a little encouragement for those of us generating new ways of living. Help with the walk-out/walk-on process is what Walkout Challenge Day is all about.

The International Leadership Programme is a 12-day residential programme which promotes visionary leadership with awareness and provides education that respects diversity of political, religious and social views. The programme is open to young people aged 18 to 32, and will be held at 'Villa Boccella' which is situated 5 miles outside of Lucca, Italy. This exceptional venus has been dedicated to the advancement of inter-cultural understanding for young people.

This second Summit will bring together international Thought Leaders to discuss significant, global challenges and opportunities. This time the speakers will focus on the subject of risk and the role of risk in innovation and global growth. Without risk taking there is no progress, no growth and no prosperity.
