New Pioneers of Change website

Document Actions
We are very pleased to announce a completely new Pioneers of Change website which you are now looking at. The main benefit of the new site is that any Pioneer can easily add to the parts of the site that are relevant to you. This way we hope to keep the site fresh and lively, and create a focal point for our global conversations and collaborations.

We are still working on the "members" aspect of the site, which will provide you your own personal space with your profile, commitment and photograph which you can use to share articles, photos and personal updates. We aim to have the rest up and running by January. In the meantime if anyone is itching to contribute content, let us know and we'll arrange a temporary login for you.

The new site is based on the Free (open source) Plone software. We chose this software for a few different reasons:

  • It provides - "out-of-the-box" - much of the functionality we regard as necessary for us to keep the site alive and fresh on an ongoing basis.
  • Plone has a rich user and developer community, and this means that many of the extra functions we'd like to add to faciliate online collaboration within the network are available as plug-ins.
  • Plone has an extremely elegant and powerful design, which means that the effort involved in adding functions that are specific to our need is less than with most other website solutions.
  • Plone is Free Software and we believe that the "new game" of Free Software is consistent with our network's beliefs and values
