16 Feb 2008 - Community & Collective Intelligence
- In today's culturally diverse society, how can we foster a sense of connectivity in groups? How can this be harnessed to strengthen our communities, networks and organisations? This workshop offers a process based on deep listening and dialogue which can support a group or community to change or evolve organically in ways that are empowering for all. Rather than imposing fixed identities, plans or objectives based on the past, we explore instead whether working with inclusivity and the suspension of judgement can help us access greater collective intelligence and align our group decisions with a future which is already present but waiting to emerge.

- We are proud to announce... Gaian Business: building a fair, fun and flourishing carbon negative economy (an event that helps entrepreneurs cooperate to build a healthy world that works for all) Would growing your business benefit you, the communities you do business with, and the biosphere you all depend on? If so, would you like some help? On Saturday, the 16th of February, entrepreneurs, funders, and support professionals will gather at the Hub in London to support each others' projects and launch new ones. Gaian Business is an event devoted to building a healthy world that works for all, by rapidly growing the businesses that such a world needs. The unique design of the event incorporates proven cutting edge techniques for promoting collaboration among free agents. Every person present will hear the name, business activities, and needs of every other participant -- all before lunch. Attendees will spend the afternoon exploring possible areas of collaboration -- shared marketing, using one another's services, sharing the contacts and information growing businesses need to succeed -- whatever they believe their businesses need to grow and to serve the world. Before, during and after the event, online tools will enable attendees to connect and to stay in touch. The Gaian Business event is for people who are already building this economy, one sale at a time. HOW MUCH: £30, unless you are a member of the Pioneers of Change, in which case £20. Exploring the Ecology of Investment
Future Considerations.,
2007-09-08 10:00:00 -
2007-09-08 16:00:00
- The proposition of this workshop is that we need to move upstream in our thinking about the role of financial markets in the wider scheme of things. An integral approach to investment has to take into account the significance of our investment decisions in a much wider context than traditional business measures and horizons allow us to. You are invited to a dialogue at the very edge of new thinking on this subject. Both thinking contextually, and dialogue itself, contrast significantly from the orientation of problem solving, analysis and debate that tends to characterise everyday decision making. This explorative workshop offers you an opportunity to : • experience dialogue as more than just good conversation • step back and re-think some of the fundamentals of the financial system • explore the wider ecology of investment through practical case studies • bring the principles of sustainable development to bear on your thinking about investment

Creativity and Imagination Workshop
Regents Park (near Gloucester Gate Entrance),
2006-07-18 19:00:00 -
2006-07-18 21:00:00
- As Pioneers of Change, many of us are involved in changing behaviour or in re-imagining and co-creating the world as a better place in which to live. This workshop is an opportunity to rediscover the magic of the imagination, to understand better its role in creativity and to recapture this tool too often laid dormant in adulthood. Expect: storytelling; co-creation exercises and dialogue around how we can reach out to people through the imagination to enchant, engage and inspire them at a level far deeper than the rational. Bring: an open mind AND, most importantly, one small object which you were about to throw away. It may just be the key to unlocking your creative potential.

Meaningful Questions and Visual Tools
London, further info via email.,
2006-11-29 09:45:00 -
2006-11-29 17:45:00
- Ole and Carsten, Pioneers from Denmark are inviting you to a workshop, where participants collectively explore and investigate how meaningful questions and visual tools can be used to meet the leadership challenges. The main questions being explored are: · How can visual dialog and questions be used as a tool for leading change in organisations? · How can using visuals and questions as tools for leading change increase continuous engagement and dialog within the organization? · How do I start now? These questions are based on the hypothesis that images and questions are strong carriers of essential knowledge and messages and thereby able to improve internal communication. The new challenges, however, also require a shift in leadership style, moving from communicating answers and complete images, to raising important questions and sharing incomplete images in order to engage the organization in a process of co-creation and ownership. By creating visual sketches and frameworks for facilitating a process, which involve everybody in shaping the next steps of changing the organization, visuals and questions can help leaders also in making a shift in their leadership style. Thus the process offered will not only assist leaders in developing an individual framework with relevant questions for their organization, but it will also increase the facilitation capacity of the individual leaders owning the change process. Send an email to: carsten@pioneersofchange.net if you are interested

- Gustavo Esteva is a Mexican activist, 'deprofessionalized intellectual' and founder of the Universidad de la Tierra in the Mexican city of Oaxaca. In his early career, he held senior positions in both private business and government. Instead of a career in Mexico’s establishment, he opted for independent work with Indian and peasant groups and NGOs. He was an advisor with the Zapatista Army for National Liberation in Chiapas. He works at the Centre for Intercultural Dialogues and Exchanges (CEDI) in the city of Oaxaca and publishes regularly in different journals. Gustavo is visiting the UK to give a week-long course at Schumacher College. Pioneers of Change and The Hub invite you to an evening where he will be sharing stories and insights on the topic he's dedicated his life to. After over half a century of “development” there is more poverty, inequality and ecosystem destruction than before it started. Some of the topics Gustavo will be touching include initiatives in cultural regeneration, education beyond schooling and the commons as a contemporary answer. Please RSVP to maria.glauser@the-hub.net if you are coming along. Fee: Hub members £10, non-members £15, all income will be donated to Unitierra's programmes. The Hub London, 5 Torrens St, EC1V 1
