In this section we show you the stories of Entrepreneurial Ventures - new projects and organizations - and Intrepreneurial Ventures - Change within Existing organizations. The idea is to profile and promote examples of initiatives (past and present) started by Pioneers in a Pioneering spirit. We hope that the section will inspire others and bring energy to the initiatives themselves!

Entrepreneural Ventures

Adaptive Edge is a consulting firm devoted to helping organizations across sectors develop better strategic foresight, innovation capabilities, and a longer view of the contextual change. Adaptive Edge is set up and lead by Nicole-Anne Boyer.

Aina Arts is a not-for-profit organization whose aim is to provide the benefits of an arts education by promoting the use of local art forms, materials and methods with children in marginalized communities globally.

Bigger Picture is a consulting company based in Scandinavia. We provide visual learning and dialogue tools and consulting services enabling ongoing sustainable organizational and personal change.

Centre for Human Ecology is a Scotland-based organisation carrying out action, research and education for personal development, ecological sustainability and social justice.

The Charter for Change was established by a small group of students, headed by Waive O. Benjamin in Ebonyi state University of Nigeria. They saw the need to foster and improve educational opportunities, career development and life skills for at-risk youths through focused programs and initiatives.

With the Escape Club Satu Kreula and Alok Singh wanted to help people who were uninspired in their work to ‘escape’ into fulfilling and meaningful work. Satu now runs her own workshop series under the name kickstartyourcareerchange.

The Diversity Caravan is a project to connect the local to the global by documenting how diversity improved several communities in South Africa and making these practices visible for the rest of the world through the media.

Fathet Kheir is an innovative development initiative in Egypt whereby the majority of its staff is made up of volunteers. It aims to create a successful and replicable development model to reduce poverty by empowering a community through the complementary values of volunteerism and development.

Hand in Hand Arts offers and creates artshops and community art happenings with and for people of all ages. It is about creating space for learning from each other and sharing ideas, for that is when real change can arise.

The Living Peace Foundation exists to empower youth in becoming catalysts of peace within international conflict zones by engaging youth in intensive online and face-to-face reflective-based education, evoking a unity-based awareness within the individual, and empowering youth with the knowledge and structure in taking sufficient action to create sustainable and lasting peace.

Mission Des Jeunes is a non governmental association established in 1999. MDJ favors cultural exchanges through international workshops -a blend of volunteers from all over the world gathered in a specific location to work and to exchange ideas and cultures.

Mutiny Arts is a not-for-profit mixed media arts organisation. They aim to encourage and educate people from varying backgrounds in audio-visual media productions and mixed media projects while addressing international and local issues.

Sea Change Consultancy works from the principle that each individual or organisation possesses the power to create positive change, and that one can faciliate this through creative means. It offers Mediation, Facilitation and Coaching and is run by Odilia Gartner

The Shire in Canada is a protected ecological learning community, leadership training ground and venue for the common good. The Shire is an exploration into the best of human potential and an example of how self-reliant living could be.

SolarGen is a community of Professionals and Academics working together to develop an effective and affordable way to provide solar power in settlements that currently have no electricity. The principle of the design is to use readily available and low cost materials to build a system that can be constructed without any overly complicated manufacturing processes.

Sweet Mother Tour The Sweet Mother Tour (SMT) is a project launched by a group of artists and activists in Boston, MA with roots in Ghana, the US, and the Caribbean. The founders of the SMT recognize that no society can develop without an understanding of its own worth and that cultural empowerment is a crucial ingredient in the successful political and economic development of any society.

Unfolding Cards is a new social dialogue technology with an associated consulting company. Unfolding Cards is based in Scandinavia with Associates around the world. We provide game- & question-based learning and dialogue tools and consulting services enabling ongoing sustainable organizational and personal change.

Waterlution engages individuals, organizations and communities in exploring issues facing our local and global water supply with the goal of developing solutions that respect our water and ecosystem for many generations to come. Waterlution’s purpose is to inspire pattern-making and pattern-breaking change towards a healthy and sustainable relationship with water

World YES Forum has as its vision to set the basis for establishing an international training center for Education for Sustainable Development at ETH Zurich and to build up a global network of sustainability leaders: young academics who actively work to foster the viable development of our society.

Intrapreneural Ventures

When Christel Scholten joined ABN AMRO Bank in Amsterdam in 2001, she felt a strong disconnect between her values and purpose and those of the financial/corporate sector. She joined with the intent to influence the company to integrate the "triple bottom line" or social, environmental and economic dimensions into the organisation by working from within the system.

Generon represents a new breed of international consulting firm—one that is motivated by a desire to create a more equitable, non-violent, and sustainable world. Pioneer Zaid Hassan is part of it.

ImagiNation aims to generate thought-leadership and action on how to build broad prosperity in South Africa. It forms part of the Dialogue-Circle, a series of programmes, at the Gordon Institute of Business Science (Johannesburg), within which emerging and senior leadership in business, government and civil society interact to build a better national future.

Young Professionals Forum is a series of learning events with the purpose of providing a place where new professional employees (23-27 years) can engage with each other, speakers and facilitators to build proactive young leadership with an awareness of societal and organisational issues.
