World Y.E.S. Forum
The project has as its vision to set the basis for establishing an international training center for Education for Sustainable Development at ETH Zurich and to build up a global network of sustainability leaders: young academics who actively work to foster the viable development of our society.
Participating in the Youth Encounter on Sustainability 2004 was the first step to become involved in the World YES Forum.
YES is a fantastic encounter that takes place every year in Braunwald, Switzerland. Young people from around the world and from all walks of life meet and share some common personal burning questions and challenges. At the same time, we all share a deep interest in sustainability. Through discussions, learnings, groupwork and just enjoying being together we get a better picture of it all and at the same time feel energised to take positive action as a connected network. The setting, in the middle of the Alps, the atmosphere and how the process is done make it a truly wonderful experience.
World YES Forum springs up naturally after YES 2004 to be implemented in the following months. Mainly through research and online communication we analise the approaches that have been adopted in European countries after Rio and the outcomes. What can be learned from that process? Let's rethink how we can tackle the challenges we are facing and set our priorities.
Other working topics have been dealing with Corporate Responsability and climate change and sustainability leadership.
The Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich (ETH Zurich) is an institution of the Swiss Confederation dedicated to higher learning and research. It believes that a network of knowledge and skills acquired in an interdisciplinary environment best respond to the natural and cultural interdependencies of life. By integrating the natural sciences, technology, the humanities and social sciences, we can devise innovative concepts of education and research which will allow us to tackle the enormous challenges facing mankind, and help lay a path for a meaningful and sustainable development of present and future civilisations.
